Story beats¶
This page summarizes the current narrative work draft at act level. The source is written in Chinese; this page presents the design intent in English.
Act I: Awakening and the Archive¶
Sol wakes in a ruined shrine among carved symbols. He activates one without understanding it, and the world answers. He learns he is connected to the language before he learns who he is.
The Archive follows the shrine. It holds stone tablets, scholars' notes, and a memory of someone teaching him stroke by stroke. That memory brings a name: Solen. The mural hall is where the rune for Sky is learned. Leaving the archive, Sol finds a sealed door covered in star patterns.
Act purpose: establish loss, introduce the language as an interactive voice, and plant the questions of who taught Sol and why the observers sealed the door.
Act II: Star Tree Grove and the buried hall¶
Branches and water curves echo the runes Sol has learned. The grove contains records of the Gardeners and their question about limits: when language gives a civilization the power to expand, how should it set a boundary with nature.
A buried hall holds a mural of the civilization's rise. Seen whole, the mural is itself a large rune: Rise.
Act purpose: show that the language is embedded in nature, introduce the Gardeners, and establish that a complete mural can be a rune whose meaning appears only from the right perspective.
Act III: Mirror Lake and Cascade Town¶
Mirror Lake reflects a hanging city whose underside is built as a rune. The city holds itself aloft with the same language the player has been learning.
Cascade Town shows runes integrated into daily life. The garden is the preserved heart of that life. Luna guards it and leaves records that continue after the other records stop. With the garden repaired, the rune Grow appears in the restored plant forms.
Act purpose: show the urban application of runes, introduce Luna and her garden, and make the cost of the civilization's separation visible in the shadowed town.
Act IV: Empty Space and Skyborne City¶
The Empty Space holds the remains of earlier Sol units. The Character rune is learned from bodies that share the player's own silhouette.
Skyborne City continues that discovery. Its mirror chamber shows reflections of repeated awakenings, and Sol recognizes that he himself is a rune in the world's language.
Act purpose: reveal the world's loop and Sol's synthetic nature, and set up the question of why the cycle repeats.
Act V: Astral Tower and the two endings¶
The Astral Tower holds the scholars' last research. It records the recurring stellar disaster and the attempt to preserve a stable reality through the rune Fake World.
On the tower, Sol can write Fake World and restart the familiar cycle. Or he can draw a symbol that has never appeared in the game. That new symbol becomes True World, and the changes he has made survive into the next world.
Act purpose: pay off Solen's plan, connect the separated factions one last time, and let the player's learned language create an outcome that the old records do not contain.
Narrative integration rules¶
Story arrives through environment, murals, object states, and short illustrated memory sequences before dialogue or exposition.
A memory reveal only lands after the player has understood the mechanic it explains. The player learns what the civilization could do before learning what it chose to do.
Characters and factions use the draft's names: Sol, Solen, Architects, Scholars, Gardeners, and Luna.
