Tutorialization and hints

Rephrased teaches through environment, sequence, camera, and feedback. The player receives evidence, forms a hypothesis, and tests it in another context.

Teaching channels

Channel Use
Environment Rune-shaped architecture, murals, silhouettes, object states, light, and routes.
Puzzle sequence Encounter, safe comparison, then independent application.
Camera Frame the active words, receiver, and changed path in one readable chain.
Rune feedback Show candidate, pending, complete, rejected, and cleared states.
Mind Drawing Ask the player to recall and reconstruct a rune shape.
Interface Support controls, settings, and accessibility.

Rune teaching pattern

  1. Place a word in a physical context that suggests a role.
  2. Pair it with a familiar word and produce a clear environmental response.
  3. Give the player a second situation where one variable changes.
  4. Ask the player to predict or reproduce the result.
  5. Reuse the word later as part of a route or narrative goal.

Hint escalation

Use the smallest intervention that restores productive thinking:

  1. improve sightlines or contrast;
  2. reframe the camera;
  3. reduce competing interactables;
  4. place cause and effect closer together;
  5. repeat the relevant visual motif;
  6. provide a short control prompt when the missing knowledge is input rather than puzzle meaning.

Feedback chain

A complete command makes each stage legible:

  • the selected rune;
  • the pending word;
  • the completed Verb + Noun;
  • the noun-centered command orb;
  • the receiver contact;
  • the new object state;
  • the opened route or revealed information.

A rejected attempt highlights the stage that needs a new hypothesis.
